FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield and United Health Care/Optum. I can also provide superbills for partial reimbursement by other insurance carriers.
How many sessions should I expect counseling to involve?

Some clients come to counseling to work through specific concerns that may be resolved within just a few sessions. Examples might be situations in which a client has an important decision to make or would like support during a challenging transition. For more complex matters, you and I will work together to determine the timeline most appropriate for you.
What are your rates?

$175 for the initial appointment, and $150/hour for each additional session. A reduced rate is available for teachers, students, and senior citizens. If you have concerns about affordability, please reach out to me.
What kind of counseling do you practice?

I have training in cognitive behavioral therapy, an evidence-based approach to treating depression and anxiety. In CBT, we look closely at the ways your behaviors, thoughts, beliefs, and assumptions affect your emotional well-being and responses to stress. I also strive to incorporate a practice of deep listening, described by Carl Rogers, Parker Palmer, and Thich Nhat Hahn.
“When we listen to someone with the intention of helping that person suffer less, this is deep listening. Deep listening has the power to help us create a moment of joy, a moment of happiness, and to help us handle a painful emotion.”
